NAT’L UNITY MOVEMENT, LIBERAL PARTY HOLD RALLY

The National Unity Movement and the Liberal Party held a rally in Galaba square of Baku at 17:00 on Saturday, Trend reports.

Attending the action were representatives of political parties, intelligentsia, fighters and law-defenders. Prof. Lala Shovkat Hajiyeva, the leader of the National Unity, made a speech to the gathering. She called on the nation to national unity for the rehabilitation of the justice and struggle for their rights.

В"It would not be right to blame only the authorities for the problems,” stressed Hajiyeva, complaining of indifference of the people. They are afraid of staging rallies. ”I call on you to know your constitution rights.

In his address Khalid Alimirzayev, the leader of the Intelligent Movement �Amal’, attributed Hajiyeva as a women etalon in Azerbaijan. He stated that the people of Azerbaijan deserve to live in the democratic society, to take a deserved place among world countries and to fight in for the ideas.

Noting Hajiyeva’s exclusive role in the revival of national conscience Murshud Mammadli, a member of Amal, regarded her as a female politician with high moral values.

Mammadli also stressed that the forthcoming elections will be a next test for the people of Azerbaijan and any possible falsification will be disrespect in respect to the nation.

In his turn Tanzila Rustamkhanly, the chairman of the Azeri Turk Women Union, said that the people will prefer Hajiyeva while making its choice selecting, as she sacrificed its fate, health, financial security, and health. According to Rustamkhanly, the value of Hajiyeva, who is a model for all leading politicians and who targets the national unity, should be recognized.

The participants in the rally commemorated the memory of late journalist Elmar Huseynov. In the end they read out the petition of the rally. They demanded providing for democratic environment and equal conditions for all candidates in the parliamentary elections, as well as unimpeded return of political immigrants, release of political prisoners, putting an end to �black PR’ against the opposition in the media, and punishment of the murderers of the editor-in-chief of Monitor magazine.

They propose the establishment of a research commission with the participation of representatives of the parties represented in the elections commissions, NGOs and media for investigation of the activities of criminal groups existing in the state bodies, in particular, in the Interior Ministry.

The participants in the rally urge that over 3,000 people joined the action, though the employees of the Yasamal Police Department state 300 people participated in the action. No incident was reported.
