(ITAR-TASS) вЂ" “Iran advocates speed-up the peaceful settlement of the Caspian problem and using all opportunities of the coastal countries in this regard,” Gulamrza Ansari, the Iranian Ambassador to Russia, told in an exclusive interview to ITAR-TASS.

He noted that Russian, Iran, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan continue discussion in the different levels and have a number of joint meetings. The summit in Ashgabad in 2002 made a resolution on holding of the next meeting of presidents in Tehran.

“Iran as organizer of the summit proposed the relevant date. However, the summit was postponed as some participants of the negotiations insist on the holding of it after the development of the Convention on legal status of the Caspian Sea. Iran is ready to hold it. The date will be announced after additional consultations," Ansari noted.
