AZERBAIJAN, EGYPT TO SIGN ABOUT 10 INTERGOV’L, INTERDEPARTMENTAL AGREEMENTS

About 10 intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements on cooperation between Azerbaijan and Egypt are under development, the Egyptian embassy in Baku told Trend.

A number of draft intergovernmental documents on the development of commercial-economic and cultural relationships between Azerbaijan and Egypt are currently being designed.

The documents include the development of collaboration in the area of agriculture, commerce, industry, medicine, and culture. One part of them is already ready with some items to be changed.

Besides, some interdepartmental draft documents projects have been processed. They are agreements on development of relationships in the areas of pharmaceutics, information technologies, finance, as well as between the archival departments of national science academies, public libraries and so on.

Some documents will be signed during a meeting of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation to be organized this autumn, the same source said.

The commission will also mull the possibilities for increase of goods turnover between Azerbaijan and Egypt.

The first meeting of the commission was held in Baku in October 2002. The co-chairmen of the commission are the Minister of the Economic Development of Azerbaijan, Farhad Aliyev, and the Egyptian Minister of International Cooperation, Faiza Abul Naqa.
