The participants of the round table discussed the level of electoral participation of women and their problems.

Fazil Gazanfaroglu, the chairman of the Great Establishemnt Party, stressed that the status of women in the Azerbaijani society was determined only with quota allotted for them.

“The reason of their passiveness is fear of the black PR used in the political processes and small number of their rights. These factors hinder their participation in the elections,” he stressed.

Zamina Dunyamaliyeva, the chairman of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party, underlined that low level of activity of women was related with national traditions, problems evolved by the government, as well as nature of women. She also mentioned the facts of violence against lady activists at the political actions.

According to Nushaba Mammadli, the professor of the Baku State University, the activity of women arouses jealousy of men and evolves problems for women. Therefore, they prefer not to interfere in policy.
