Representatives of the international community note the successes of Azerbaijan, stating about creation of pre-conditions for holding fair, open and just elections and they will be held, such a statement was made by the head of the foreign relations department of the Azerbaijan President’s executive office Novruz Mamedov on 5 September at the conference “Elections and Democratic Development”.
В"Undoubtedly, along with successes there are certain shortcomings in Azerbaijan. However, they cannot hinder from democratic elections”, Mamedov noted, voicing regret in regard to the attempts of the leader of the oppositional Musavat Party Isa Gambar “to turn the conference into the confrontation spot”.
В"Leader of Musavat voices a very strange position, requiring criticism from the world community. Why Gambar does not want to notice вЂthe full half of the glass”, preferring to declare about the empty one”, Mamedov said, noting that the opposition does not want to recognize real facts.
В"The international community believes there will be transparent elections in our country and the leadership of Azerbaijan does its utmost for that”, Mamedov underlined.
He reminded, Gambar sent a letter to “Washington Times” recently, where he had specified, the official Baku holds negotiations on stationing the American bases on its territory, which is fundamentally untrue”.
В"President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, as well as the officials from Washington denied this report”, Mamedov said, noting Gambar undermines his public reputation once more by such actions.
