AZERI PRESIDENT RECEIVES CHINESE AMB

Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, received Chjan Siyun, the Chinese Ambassador to Azerbaijan, on Monday in relation to completion of diplomatic tenure. Siyun said that he was recalled by the chairman of the Chinese People’s Republic on the base of resolution of the Chinese Meeting of Popular Deputies. The diplomat voiced hope that Azerbaijan would pay the same attention to his successor.

Siyun thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for support of the Chinese positions on the issues of Taiwan and Tibet, as well as similar position on the UN reforming.

The Chinese diplomat appreciated the results of the Aliyev’s visit to Beijing and noted that the goods turnover between countries increased from $15m to $300m.

“Number of the Chinese students in Azerbaijan reached 180 in 2005 against 1 in 2002. Volume of the Chinese investments increased from $2m to $300m over the same period,” Siyun underlined.

Aliyev appreciated the Ambassador’s activities. “I hope that new Ambassador will continue efforts in direction of the strengthening and the development of the bilateral relations,” he added.
