“Negotiations on Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will continue just after the parliamentary elections in Azerbaijan on 6 November and referendum on changes to the constitution in Armenia on 28 November,” Elmar Mammadyarov, the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister, said journalists on Friday, Trend reports.

He reported that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen held a meeting in Washington and developed the schedule of works on results of the meeting. “6 months passed have passed since the last visit of the Minsk Group co-chairmen and it is time to pay a new visit, the Minister noted.

He also stressed that they plan the negotiations of the Azerbaijani and Armenian Foreign Ministers in Ljubljana in early December 2005 with participation of the Minsk Group co-chairmen.

Then the co-chairmen suppose to pay a visit to the region. Mammadyarov said that the format of the forthcoming meeting in Ljubljana had not been unified, but they had time for it.

“We plan to continue serious dialogue to achieve progress in the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict in 2006,” the Minister underlined. According to Mammadyarov, the current negotiations are held around 7-9 elements.

As to the Azerbaijan’s position on the report of the International crisis Group concerning the settlement of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict, he noted that such initiatives might be used by the sides as support element.

“Surely, some moments in the reports present certain interest,” the Minister said. He underlined that the main negotiations were held within the OSCE Minsk Group.

Commenting the results of the recent meeting of the Azerbaijani and Armenian communities of Nagorno-Karabakh in Berlin, Mammadyarov reported that he regarded the statements on involvement of so called Nagorno-Karabakh Republic’ in the negotiations within the CE Close Neighborhood program as ridiculous.

“The self-declared Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is not acknowledged by any country of the world. Participation of the Karabakh Armenians in the international organizations is possible only in the comparison of Azerbaijan,” Mammadyarov underlined.
