CE reps meet with New Policy bloc

The Information Office of the Council of Europe basedin Baku hosted a meeting between the representatives of the New Policy bloc and the CE representatives on Friday. Attending the gathering were the CE co-rapporteurs on Azerbaijan, Andreas Gross and Andreas Gross, the head of the PACE observation mission in Azerbaijan, Leo Platvoed, as well Р°s Eldar Namazov and Ali Aliyev, who represented New Policy bloc.

Ali Aliyev, the chairman of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP ), said that during the meeting they discussed the public-political situation in Azerbaijan, the post-elections situation in the country and the results of the 6 November parliamentary elections.

Aliyev said that he informed the CE representatives about his principle position on the results of elections. He also informed the guests on the position of the opposition on the sentence taken by the Constitution Court on the results of the elections.

Touching upon the guests’ attitude towards the development Aliyev said that the CE representatives were surprised on the facts. “In fact these people are well informed about Azerbaijan. We simply elaborated our opinion, the reality in the sphere of democracy and situation with human rights in Azerbaijan,” he underlined.
