On Friday Mehriban Aliyeva, the President of Heydar Aliyev Foundation, and Marco Borsotty, the resident-ccordinator of UNDP in Azerbaijan, signed draft document on access of blind and weak-sighted people to information-communications technologies and an agreement on cooperation in Baku, Trend reports.
The project was developed in accordance with the commitments undertaken by the Azerbaijani government within the Millennium Declaration. The project will be implemented in three stages. The first stage is aimed at determination of these people’s need of ICT, the second - development of national strategy on annulment of digital difference for blind and weak-sighted people. The project envisages holding of inquiries, exchange of opinions and acquiring of necessary equipment, as well as establishment of model ICT form at boarding schools in this regard.
The third stage includes establishment of training center and library. The implementation of the $418,000 project is planned to take 8 months.
