Conference Islam and Youth: Education, Science and Enlightenment is held in Baku
The International Conference on the subject Islam and Youth: Education, Science and Enlightment started today in Baku. As Trend reports, the conference organizers are the Azerbaiajan Education Ministry, HeydarAliyev Foundation, the Ministry of State Foundations and Islamic Affairs of Kuwait.
Opening the conference the Azerbaijan Education Minister Misir Mardanov said in a statement, that Azerbaijan is an integral part of the Moslem world. Islamic values played an exclusive role in shaping the moral values of the Azerbaijani people, he noted. Azerbaijan being a tolerant state honours highly civilized and democratic values, the Minister said. He also stated forcible practicing any confession or religious school is not admissible for the population of the country.
According to him, todays conference is held in an uneasy time for the Moslem world. The minister voiced hope that during discussions to be held involving scientists, state figures of some Moslem states, the ways for enlightenment of the youth in the context of the Islamic values, as well as holding away from such negative things as terrorism and extremism will be found.
The state advisor of Azerbaijan Idayt Orudjev addressed also the conference stating that advocacy of national and moral values is part of the state policy and it will be pursued further.
At the conference which passed involving secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Conference Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, deputy minister of the State Foundations and Islamic Affairs of Kuwait Adil al Filah, chairman of the educational commission of the Turkeys Parliament Tayir Altinguladj and a number of prominent in the Moslem world scholars such subjects, as consensus in Islam, the issues of protection from extremism, globalization and the Moslem youth have been discussed.
The conference participants noted an importance of such conference and voiced hope that it will resolve the tasks set within its frameworks.
