A renowned Azeri scientist passes away

Professor Agil Alirza oglu Aliyev, a well-known Azerbaijani scholar-economist, member of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, have passed away 7 March at the age of 80 years old, Trend reports.

Obituary regarding this event was signed by the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, prime minister Artur Rasi-zade, speaker of parliament Oktay Asadov, head of the presidential executive apparatus Ramiz Mekhtiyev and other officials.

Born on 10th of December 1926 in Nakhchivan city Aliyev was a scientist who has made a sufficient contribution to the economic science. Important role in his scientific work was dedicated to the reformation of socio-economic development of Azerbaijan and study on the problems of enhancement of life levels.

Aliyev has participated in the development f the complex program of the scientific-technical development in Azerbaijan, he has analyzed economic problems, related to the healthcare services, and was one of the authors working on the scheme of productive forces development in the country. His studies on the role of economic reforms in social progress, social problems of population in the conditions of market relations, were accepted with the great interest by the international community.

Together with his fruitful scholarly activity A.Aliyev has done a huge contribution in training of qualified specialists and in the organization of science. For his achievements in the training of qualified personnel he was granted the title Distinguished Member of Science in 1981.

Aliyev was appreciated for his teaching and scholarly activities. For his contributions to the development of science in Azerbaijan he was granted the high award of Azerbaijan Republic order of Glory
