Azeri President addresses to people on Azeri genocide day

Politics Materials 28 March 2006 16:22 (UTC +04:00)

The genocide and aggression policy by Armenian nationalists in regard to the Azerbaijani people has 200-year history. The goal of the policy is to expatriate Azerbaijanis from their historic lands and establish Great Armenia invented by Armenian ideologists, Trend reports referring to an address by Ilham Aliyev, the Azerbaijani President, to the Azerbaijani people on 31 March i.e. the Azerbaijani genocide day.

The messages says that the history of the Azerbaijani people was falsified, while historic and culture monuments, as well as names of places were subjected to impudent aggression by Armenian historians and ideologists.

They mobilized Armenian lobby and Diaspora, founded national-culture, political and event terrorist organizations in this respect. The bloody pages of Azerbaijanis deportation from native lands in Armenia include resettlement of Armenians from Iran and the Ottoman empire to Azerbaijani lands Karabakh and Zangazur in early XX century, violent changes of demographic situation, mass assassination of Azerbaijanis in 1905 and 1918 to intimidate the aboriginal population into resettlement, placement

of Zangazur at disposal of Armenia in 1920, issue of autonomous territory status to Nagorno-Karabakh, resettlement of Azerbaijanis from Armenia at the decision by the USSR leadership from 1948 to 1953.

In 1988 Armenian nationalists, incited by foreign forces, started open acts to detach Nagorno-Karabakh from Azerbaijan and hand over it to Armenia. Surrounding regions were occupied as a result of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Over million of Azerbaijanis became refugees and internally displaced people. Tens of thousands people died, the address stresses.

The Armenian aggression in regard to Azerbaijan still continues. Aforesaid is not full list of crimes committed by Armenian nationalists. The policy of Armenia and its supporters is doomed to failure, as it differs from leading tendencies of international policy.

We are eager for settlement of the Azerbaijani-Armenian conflict within international law and acceptable versions. Our major demand is to ensure the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and repatriate refugees. The aggression policy by Armenia debars it from participation in regional projects. We support restoration of historic justice, making of the people pursuing genocide and occupation policy answerable before international community. Im sure that we will achieve our purposes and disclose the people involved in enmity policy through national unity and purposeful activities, the address says.
