Next summit of CICA due in 2006

The next summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will be held in 2006, the Kazakh embassy told Trend.

The next meeting will consider the issues on the cooperation in military-political, economic, cultural and ecologic spheres to strengthen security and confidence in the

region.

Presidents are in for approval of the regulations on secretariat and mechanism of implementation of the confidence measures catalogue, adopted at the meeting of CICA Foreign Ministers.

CICA was founded at the initiative of Kazakstani President Nursultan Nazarbayev in 1992. The first summit of CICA Presidents and Primers was held in June 2002. The organization includes 16 states such as Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Egypt, India, Israel, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, while observer status belongs to Indonesia, Malaysia, the USA, South Korea, Japan, Ukraine, and Vietnam.

Some international organizations UN, OSCE, League of Arab States are also represented in the organization.
