The Azerbaijani Transport ministry started building the second transportation bridge on April 20. Its purpose is to unclog the city transport infrastructure. The bridge will be build in the vicinity of 20January metro station. Its total cost will be 16m AZM and the construction works will continue for 1.5 years, the vice transportation minister, Musa Panahov told Trend. A tunnel will be constructed on the same line as the bridge, he noted.
Another bridge will be laid near the Ayna Sultanova monument on Ziya Buniyatov str. It will cost 8m AZM.
The total cost of all bridges that have to be laid by the end of May, 2006 is 300m AZM, Panahov said. All these projects are expected to be terminated within the 2 year period. A large number of ground street lanes and underground passages are also expected to be build

Construction of the first bridge started in the mid- March near the Meshadi Azizbeyov metro station. Its length is 2.5 km. and its approximate cost is -$25m. Construction is carried out by the local company Azerkirpyu.
All the works are conducted within the frames of the presidential decree on modernization of the Baku city transport system in 2006-07. The transport junctures are built in accordance with the modern technologies. The bridges will not be equipped with street lights in order to avoid traffic jams. Foreign companies are attracted as consultants for the building.
