EU and Azerbaijan to discuss Actions Plan under European Neighborhood Policy

The next round of talks between Azerbaijan and the EU on Actions Plan under the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) is scheduled to May 15, Trend reports quoting Arif Mamedov, Azeri Ambassador to Benilux and the EU.

Huges Mingarelli, deputy Director General for relations with Central and Eastern Europe, heads the EUs delegation. Azeri side will be headed by Mahmud Mamedkuliyev, deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan.

The meeting plan includes discussion of the final Actions Plan scheduled for approximately five years. It covers bilateral cooperation in politics, security, economy, trade, culture, as well as social, legal and so spheres. First time the draft was discussed in Baku in December 2005; second tour of conversations passed March 7 in Brussels.

Upon the experts approval, the Actions Plan should be approved by 25 EU states. Finally, it will be passed in September at the session of EU-Azerbaijan Cooperative Council.
