Azeri president held meetings in the US Congress

The Azerbaijani president, Ilham Aliyev visited US Congress during his current visit to Washington, Trend reports citing Azertaj.

The head of state hold talks with the members of the Congress work group on Azerbaijan, Kurt Weldon, Solomon Ortisel, co-chairman of the public institutions ad-hoc committee, Mitch McConnell and a chairman of the public affairs committee, Richard Lougar.

Congressmen and senators highly evaluated Aliyev` s visit to US, stating that strategic partnership encompassing new areas between the 2 countries will be expanded.

President, in his turn emphasized importance of his visit to Washington, adding that the talks he had there will give another impetus to the future cooperation between the 2 countries.

Opinion exchange on different areas of Azerbaijani- American relations processes within Azerbaijan, role of Baku as a regional leader and participation of Azerbaijan in the anti-terrorist coalition has been carried out.

The same day, Aliyev met the CIA head, John Negroponte.
