Much of the recommendations international organizations issue for elections in Azerbaijan are inapplicable as they are too common, Trend reports quoting Shahin Aliyev, Chief of Legislation and legal expertise issues department, which was speaking April 28 at the round table on the results of the 6 November 2005 elections and perspectives of cooperation in the field of electoral legislation and practice.

Aliyev stated an example of the last recommendations from ODHIR/OSCE on the 6 November 2005 elections. В"It is just impossible to implement 7 out of 9 recommendation they submitted. In general recommendations shall be groundedВ",- he said.

В"Many international organizations are behaving like policemen towards Azerbaijan. They display nothing but criticism. As a result, we dont receive any constructive suggestionsВ", - Aliyev added.

Alongside, governmental official named some organizations showing a kind of constructive approach. These are, first, IFES and Venice Commission. В"We have traditionally close relationships with these structures, their activity promotes democratic institutions in AzerbaijanВ",- he outlined.

В"If the members of election commission were more professionals, much of violations at the previous elections wouldnt happen at allВ", - he said.

Aliyev expressed his regret in a view of lack of results of trainings members of election commission pursued.

he said that namely due to the uncertain content of these recommendations, Azeri government failed to make any specific revisions in Election Code.
