Azerbaijan to Send First Echelon Russian Military Base in Akhalkalaki 5 Hours Earlier than Schedule

Russias first echelon, based in Akhankalaki, Georgia, was delivered to the Azerbaijani-Russian border 5 hours earlier than the schedule. According to the Azerbaijan State Railway Department, passing through the territory of Azerbaijan at night hours, the echelon arrived at Yalama station at 10:30am. After the relative procedures, the echelon was forwarded to Russia, the same source said.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the good condition of the railways allowed the echelon to raise the speed up to 60 km/hour. The echelon moved through the route from the west to the north of Azerbaijan and passed 680 km.

The echelon was sent from the Georgian railway station Salka on May 15. 7 T-72 tanks, 8 intelligence patrol automobiles, 4 armored troop-carriers, 4 special automobile communications, 340 shell boxes were transported. All boxes had a military seal. the Russian embassy in Baku told ITAR-TASS.
