The decision of the Second congress of world Azerbaijanis held in Baku on March 16 is being implemented, Nazim Ibrahimov, the chairman of the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Living Abroad (SCWALA), told Trend . He noted that the documents adopted during the congress were forwarded to international organizations.
The decisions and recommendations adopted during the congress started to be implemented. The recent event held in Antaliya (Turkey) was one of our tasks. Because for a long time, we have been talking that the participation of intellectuals in the activities of diasporas is weak. In order to resolve this problem, the intellectuals were involved in the activities of diasporas, and a Forum of the world Azerbaijani intellectuals was established. During the event, the Azerbaijani intellectuals living in different countries around the world promised to take an active part in the activities of diasporas, told Ibrahimov.
According to Ibrahimov, SCWALA is going to host such events in other countries. He added that the Assembly of American-Azerbaijan Association would be established in the near future. The headquarter of the assembly will be located in the capital of the USA Washington. I hope that this organization will find a worthy place in America soon. The Assembly will be confirmed in the near future, and an Organizational committee has been established for this purpose, stated Ibrahimov.
According to the chairman of the Committee, a process of unification of
the Azerbaijani Diaspora organizations in a single centre will continue in different countries. The idea to establish American-Azerbaijani Association appeared a year ago, but today its creation is being realized. For this purpose, the congress of European Azerbaijanis and Federation of Azerbaijani-Turkish Circles were created and their activities were strengthened. Such process will continue where it is necessary. However, such ideas should appear from diasporas themselves. Because they themselves will carry out this work. After the appearance of the Azeri president Ilham Aliyev at the Second congress of the world Azerbaijanis with an appeal to the representatives of diasporas of Azerbaijanis living abroad, there was appeared a desire of diaspora build-up. After this organizational work our diaspora will further strengthen, emphasized Ibrahimov.
