Over 100kg drugs terminated in Azerbaijan

Over 100kg of drug has been terminated at the Baku Oil Machinery Plant on 23 June. Major part of the drugs was comprised of marihuana and heroin, the rest opium and poppy, Trend reports.

The chairman of the government commission on termination drugs, Azim Piriyev said that in December 2005 a special commission on termination of drug was established at the decree by the Deputy Premier Ali Hasanov. The volume of confiscated drug has been increased as compared to last year. It testifies for strengthening of drug enforcement in Azerbaijan, he underscored.

Piriyev said they mainly terminated dugs confiscated from citizens while their import to Azerbaijan from the southern regions and Iran.

attending the event were representatives from the State Commission on drug enforcement, the State Border Service, the Interior Ministry, the National Security Ministry, Justice Ministry and Health Ministry.
