Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was awarded a prize of Ecovitrin magazine of Turkey in the category Politician of the Year on 12 July, Ibrahim Nabioglu, the Azerbaijani General Consul in Istanbul, told Trend.
The ceremony was held at one of the prestigious hotels of Istanbul Grand Javahir with participation of outstanding politicians and public figures of Azerbaijan and Turkey.
In the first half-day Ilham Aliyev and his delegation attended an opening of a monument to the former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev, a park and avenue will be staged in the Sariyar area of Istanbul with Turkish MPs, outstanding public figures and head of Istanbul.
The ceremony was held as part of the Azerbaijani presents offal visit to Turkey for participation at the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline (BTC) commissioning ceremony in Ceyhan.
