A Forum dedicated to the National Movement of South Azerbaijan began at the Grand Europe Hotel of Baku on 12 September, Trend reports. Attending the Forum are representatives from both the public and political sectors of Azerbaijan and representatives of diplomatic corps.
In his welcoming remarks Etibar Mammadov, leader of the Azerbaijan National Independence Party (ANIP) touched upon problems of the National Movement Oyanish (Revival) in South Azerbaijan [North of the Iranian Islamic Republic). He stressed that the current state of the national movement of south Azerbaijan is the result of infringement of the Azerbaijanis rights as a nation. The break of public, political and culture rights Mammadov said that the national liberation movements were repeatedly set up in the South Azerbaijan. Unfortunately, clashes of international forces, support given by other countries to the existing regime in Iran hindered the success of the National Movement. Nevertheless, our southern neighbors have succeeded to support all Azerbaijanis worldwide, the politician stated.
Following Mammadovs speech, a film was shown dedicated to the national movement of South Azerbaijan. The film depicted scenes of protest held in the South Azerbaijan, where the Azerbaijani protestors were succumbed to pressure and violent treatment.
After the demonstration of a film on South Azerbaijan of the Strategic Research Center, Sabit Isabeyli, told the Forum that the activists of the National Movement are imposed to repression, pressures and tortures. Over 15,000 Azerbaijan were arrested as a result of a protest action held this year.
The speakers also spoke about artificial measures taken for losing the traces of the national movement and provided concrete facts in this respect.
