A two-day International Conference of the working group of heads of border services commenced in Baku on 27 September 2006, Trend reports.
Attending the meeting were representatives from border services of 16 countries.
In his opening remark Lieutenant General Elchin Guliyev, the Head of the State Border Service of Azerbaijan said, We are pleased to witness the attendance of this event in Baku and I hope it will continue to progress in an effective atmosphere, Guliyev added.
Other speakers to the event, adviser to the Azerbaijani President on Military Issues, Vahid Aiyev, the Deputy Foreign Minister, Vagif Sadygov, stressed that the conference would play a considerable role in the protection of border security and the prevention of drug trafficking.
After a short introduction, the participants at the meeting visited the Cemetery of Honors.
