OIC Youth Forum to Organize Camp for Europe`s and Asia`s Young Leaders

A camp with the participation of representatives of the youth of Europe, OIC (Organization for Islamic Conference), and Asian countries not members of OIC is expected to be organized in Antalya (Turkey) on December 12-22, 2006. Elshad Iskandarov, Chief Secretary of OIC Youth Forum exclusively told Trend that the arrangement will be held under the name Alliance between Civilizations, under the assistance of ICESCO (Islamic Conference Education, Science and Culture Organization), Council of Europe, and UN. One candidate is expected to be chosen from Azerbaijan.

Within 8 days of the presence at the camp, lectures will be read to the young leaders. After all, the participants will prepared their own project on the issue on foundation of an alliance between civilizations.

During the last two days, a conference is expected to be held. The conference envisages the camp`s participants` meeting with authoritative and powerful faces of Europe and Asia who are able to have an influence on intercivilization processes. The participants of the meeting will approve a declaration that will be then submitted to UN to be the basis of the Charter of the Organization for Intercivilization Dialogue.

Mr. Iskandarov reminded that the idea on founding of a young initiative for intercivilization alliance was put forward by Turkey`s Prime-Minister Rajab Tayyib Erdogan, and Spanish Prime-Minister Jose Luis Rodriquez Sapatero. The Bord of the Initiative held several meetings. Federico Mayor, President of World`s Culture Fund, Mekhriban Aliyeva,

President of the Heydar Aliyev Fund, Mehmet Aydin, Turkish State Minister are members of the Board.
