Chief of Azerenerji JSC: Russian Electric Power Export to Azerbaijan is Likely to Be Interrupted

The volume of the Russian imported electric power supplies to Azerbaijan is likely to be equal to zero in 2007, Etibar Piriverdiyev, President of Azernerji JSC told during the press-conference being held today, Trend reports.

According to him, the Russian party has officially informed Azerbaijan about its intentions to significantly reduce the export of its electric power, and it is not ruled out that it will be interrupted at all. At present, the Azerbaijani party is negotiating and working over different alternatives in this regard.

In this connection, an issue on necessity on constructing another electric stations on the route of Derbent Yashma, pointed out Mr. Piriverdiyev. If there is no export, it will be not necessary to construct this transmission lines, he told.

Notably, every year, Azerbaijan buys about 1 b. KWatt/hour of electric power from Russia.
