Chief of a Presidential Administration Department: Building at 33, Khagani St. Should Be Passed to Its Previous Owner

If by the decision of the Court, organizations located at the address: 33, Khagani Street will be removed from the above-mentioned address then, we, the authorities, shall provide them with a corresponding premises, Ali Hassanov, Chief of the Social And Political Department of the Azerbaijan Presidential Administration told journalists, Trend reports.

He pointed out that prior to the decision of the court, nobody has a right to speak if the building will be taken from somebody, or given to somebody. The media has spread pieces of information that the disputed building had been sold to somebody, and that something would be constructed on its place. That is why I expressed an opinion that even if there would be a decision to return to the media organizations, it should be returned to the previous owners by all means. The previous owner of the building is the Baku Branch of the Teacher Training Institute. But now we should wait for the court decision, since we live in a legal state, and should respect a decision of the court, said Mr. Hassanov.

He added that if the court came to a conclusion regarding the above-mentioned organizations, then a payment of any compensation would be also a judicial case. And such issues could be also considered. According to Mr. Hassanov, the issue on removing some media organizations from the building at 33, Khagani St. is being politicized.

They do not want to leave the comfortable and convenient place in the city centre. Generally, neither newspaper nor other organization wants to move to other place. From other hand, they are politicizing this event, assessing it as a pressure on the media, opposition camp, and carrying out propaganda like that. This action has a certain political nature, he added.
