Chechens Arrested Opened Fire on Police in Baku

Two Chechens were arrested as a result of an armed resistance which occurred in Aziz Aliyev Street, in the centre of Baku City in the night of 24 November, Yashar Aliyev, Deputy Chief of the Baku Central Police Department, told Trend.

At 3:30 a.m., in Aziz Aliyev Street, officers of Police Station #9 of Sabayil District, Major Aydin Aliyev and Sergeant Emin Mammadov, attempted to detain two suspicious men. During the attempt, one of the men opened fire using a pistol injuring the Police Sergeant on his arm. Both suspects were arrested as a result of a joint operation by officers of the Central Security Department. The criminals were Russian Citizens of Chechen origin, Magomed Biloyev and his brother Islam Biloyev. The police found one Makarov pistol (with a silencer), masks, a knife, 0.158 gram of heroine, etc. in their possession.

The incident is being treated as a criminal case.
