Kristian B. Hausken, New President of Statoil Azerbaijan, on December 13, 2006 said that the commercial role of Statoil in Shah Deniz Gas Field Project maximized the value of Stage 1,Trend reports.
New President will take his office on January 1, 2007. He will replace Georg Gundersen, who has been appointed as the President of the Angola Office. Prior to recent appointment Mr. Hausken has worked President of Statoil in Poland since 2000.
We will try to secure markets in Turkey and beyond, making further development of Shah Deniz viable. Our ambition is to deliver a stage 2 development for Shah Deniz as soon as possible. This task is tangible. Azerbaijan is important for Statoil. We invested a lot of capital in Azerbaijan since the very beginning of cooperation with the Government, which amounts to $3 bln. It is very important to use global experience of Statoil in the sale of gas he said.
