On December 22, during the meeting with chiefs of hotels, Abulfaz Garayev, Azerbaijan Culture and Tourism Minister said that the Program on the Development of Tourism in Azerbaijan for 2007-2016 is expected to be approved till the spring of the next year, Trend reports.
According to him, the draft-program has been submitted to offices of the Government and is consideration. The program is intended for the development of the tourism sector in the country, up-leveling service in tourism complexes to the international standards, said the Minister. Within the programme, several tourism zones are envisaged to be founded in the regions of the country Lankaran, Gusar, Khizi-Davachi, etc. The Program also stipulates the establishment of new tourism complexes close to Goy-Gol, in Shaki-Zagatala zone, etc.
All the above mentioned can not be realized without the active participation of the private sector, said Mr. Garayev. He also called up local investors to take their active part in Azerbaijan turning into one of the largest centres of the World tourism.
