Ali Abbasov, Azerbaijan Telecommunications and IT Minister, said today that the preparation of packages of proposals to setting up a regional innovation zone in the country will become the key achievement for Azerbaijan telecommunication and IT sphere in 2007, Trend reports.
According to him, the packages with proposals will be prepared till the end of March, 2007, and be further submitted to the Government for further consideration.
According to opinions of international experts, if the project is implemented, returns to be obtained from the IT sphere in 2015-2020 may reach the corresponding ones receiving from the development of Azerbaijan oil sector, said the Minister.
The project on foundation of a regional innovation zone envisages the installation of techno parks to develop the small-scale and medium-sized innovative entrepreneurship, creation of a regional base for the production and export of electronic appliances and software, the country turning to an advantageous transit information centre, training and development of human resources, information society, and introduction of IT in other fields.
