Receiving the EU Special Envoy to South Caucasus, Peter Semneby, Elmar Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister has said that Baku is expected to host the International Conference The Role of Media in Encouraging Tolerance and Mutual Understanding in April 2007, Trend reports referring to the Press Centre of the Azerbaijan Foreign Office.
During the meeting, the foreign diplomat put forward an initiative to organize and hold training and seminars for free press. The Azerbaijani Minister agreed with Semneby that holding such arrangements in the country was of great importance.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the opening of a EU Representative Office in Azerbaijan, the fulfilment of the action plan within the EU Neighbourhood Policy, as well as negotiations held regarding Azerbaijan joining the WTO. Mr. Mammadyarov informed Semneby of the peaceful negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh issue. Mr. Semneby, in turn, informed the Azerbaijani Minister of his visit to a refugee camp in the Sabirabad District of Azerbaijan.
