General Prosecutors of CIS Countries Agreed in Astana upon Cooperation in Fighting Corruption

Kazakhstan, Astana / Trend corr K. Konirova / An agreement on cooperation in fighting against corruption was concluded in Astana ( Kazakhstan) between the CIS countries' Prosecutors General on 25 April. The document was sighed as a consequence of the meeting of the Coordinating Council of the CIS countries' Prosecutors General held in Astana on 25 April.

The parties discussed the issues regarding the activities of the CIS oversight bodies and agreed upon cooperation in fighting against corruption through joint check of the statements and reports on transnational corruption.

The implementation of the arrangements provided by the programs on cooperation in exchange of experience on prosecution, fighting against terrorism, and other violent forms of extremism, as well as counteraction to drugs and psychotropic substances were considered at the gathering.

The project on Typical Statute on Common Regulations on Registration of Criminal Cases and Crimes was under discussion. As a result, a task group was decided to be established in order to develop the details of the document.

The Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan, Rashid Tusupbekov, stated at the meeting that the decisions made by the prosecutors promoted rapprochement of the legislations, development of the legal basis of the CIS, working out of general positions on protection of rights and freedom of the citizens.
