Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. E.Huseyinli / Ali Ahmadov, the Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party stated on 17 May that Ali Kerimli, the Chairman of the oppositional Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan (PFPA), spread rumors of his own arrest to increase his social importance.
"If Kerimli spreads such rumors it may mean that he has done something and wants to prevent more arrests," Ahmadov added.
The PFPA is the Co-Founder and member of the political bloc Azadlig. Abulfaz Elchibayov, the former President of Azerbaijan was the founder of Azadlig in 2000. Since 2000 Ali Kerimli has been leading the bloc
