Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Agayeva / David A. Sampson, the Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Commerce, will visit Azerbaijan from 3-5 June 2007. As the Department's chief operating officer Deputy Secretary Sampson is responsible for the day-to-day operations of an agency with one of the broadest portfolios in federal government. The Commerce Department's responsibilities include promoting U.S. exports, negotiating and enforcing international trade agreements and regulating sensitive goods and technology exports. In addition to meeting with Azerbaijani government officials and business leaders, Deputy Secretary Sampson will attend the Caspian Oil and Gas Show on 5 June. He will also participate in a charity event on 4 June at the McDonalds restaurant in Alami and will give remarks at a luncheon of the American Chamber of Commerce at the Park Hyatt.
