Joint Exploitation of Azerbaijani  Gabala  Radar Station not to Undermine Relations between  Azerbaijan,   Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr E. Huseynli / The First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis (Azerbaijani parliament) and the head of the Azerbaijani delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of NATO, Ziyafat Askarov , stated on the 13th of June, that 'the implementation of the proposal on the joint exploitation of the Azerbaijani Gabala Radar Station by the United States and Russia will not undermine the relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.'

According to Askarov , the decisions on the exploitation of the station cannot be made without Azerbaijan's consent, as the station is in an exclusive domain of the country.

"Joint exploitation of the Gabala Radar Station will positively affect security stability in the region. The relations between Russia and the United States are tensed. Joint exploitation of the station will somehow relieve the tensions and profoundly contribute to the security of Azerbaijan," Askarov stated.

During the G-8 summit on the 7th of June , Russian President Vladimir Putin , proposed the United States to jointly exploit the Gabala Radar Station.
