Azerbaijan, Baku / corr. Trend S.Ilhamgizi / Fuad Aliyev, the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Azerbaijan (LDPA) is protesting against another party using his party's name.

Heading another party going by the same name, the LDPA, Valeh Ibadov stated on 28 June that the party joined the political ' Azerbaijani Way' movement.

The LDPA was formed in 1999. In 2001, after the death of Zakir Mammadov, the Chairman of the party at the time, the party was divided into two wings. Now both Valeh Ibadov and Fuad Aliyev lay claim to the name of the party.

In 2004 the Supreme Court made a resolution which recognized Fuad Aliyev's party legally.

According to Aliyev, nobody else can use the name of the party.

Aliyev stressed that LDPA did not join the ' Azerbaijani Way' movement and does not plan to cooperate with this organization in the near future.

The convention of the party will be held at the beginning of 2008.

Presently, the party headed by Ibadov presents its party as the Liberal Democratic Party. This action made by Ibadov became the main reason for disputes, Aliyev suggested.
