Ambassador:  Azerbaijan,   Germany Go on with Negotiations on Readmission

Azerbaijan, Baku / Тrend corr K. Ramazanova / In near future Azerbaijani and German Governments will continue negotiations on readmission which will enable adjustment of the problems in this field between the two countries, German Ambassador in Azerbaijan, Per Stankina, reported.

The sides will continue consultations on agreement on readmission. After collapse of the Soviet Union, a plenty of people, including Azerbaijanis, moved to Germany. At present a certain group of people, who are presumably Azerbaijani citizens, reside in Germany. German Government applied to Azerbaijan for assistance in identification of the citizenship of those illegal residents, who pretend Azerbaijani citizens but mostly are not.

According to the Ambassador, the first round of talks in this connection was held in Baku, the second is planned to be scheduled for Germany. Exact date of the consultations has not been coordinated yet.

According to Azerbaijani Embassy in Germany, some 6,500 illegal residents from Azerbaijan live in the country.
