Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. К.Zarbaliyeva / Six persons attempting to smuggle drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan were stopped at the border post of the State Border Service near Zahmatabad village of Jalilabad region on 13 July.
The Iranian citizens attempted to cross the Azerbaijani border. They then dropped the drugs before attempting to flee. Two smugglers were caught and arrested while the other criminals managed to escape to Iran. The police seized 2 guns, 128 cartridges, and a US noctovisor, mobile and wireless station.
A total of 35kg of hashish and 2kg of heroine were seized and an investigation is underway.
