Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Alizadeh / MP Ali Huseynov, Chairman of the Permanent Parliamentary Commission on Law Policy and State Building and member of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, stated that the adoption of the Law on 'Alternative service' is relevant as the resolution passed during the spring session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Council of Europe criticized the absence of the law.
"I call for all my colleagues, the MPs, to try to pass the law," MP said.
Huseynov noted that there is differing opinions among the population on this issue.
"I consider that adoption of the Law on 'Alternative service' will not cause serious problems for Azerbaijan," Huseynov added.
In joining the Council of Europe, Azerbaijan assumed obligations regarding adoption of the Law on 'alternative service'. The Parliamentary Commission developed a draft on the Law. The bill will be submitted for discussion during the Parliament's autumn session.
