Student Admission to Azerbaijani Diplomatic Academy to Commence in 1.5 Years : Rector (video)
Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend E.Huseynov / Hafiz Pashayev, the Rector of the Diplomatic Academy of Azerbaijan, stated on 26 July that to date major activities within the Academy has been directed towards short-term, mainly week-long training. These programs are carried out jointly with various countries and universities.
The Azerbaijani diplomats were totally unprepared. Diplomacy is a new sector for Azerbaijan and the personnel received education in different universities. Pashayev believes in the necessity for theoretical knowledge, but the most important is obtaining knowledge of diplomacy, foreign relations and practical skills.
"Our major intention for the near future, particularly in the next 1 to 1.5 years is to open a university on the MS program. It is an important project and we are studying the experience of world leading universities and academies and developing plans for further joint activities," he noted.
This process will commence in 1.5 years. Major attention will be paid to covering several areas, including the international security and resolution of conflicts, power engineering and energy security, statehood and government," the rector explained.
Admission to the Academy will also be set up in 1.5 years."In accordance with the Azerbaijani legislation, the Academy will comply with international regulations, as well as certain specific requirements. We expect many students from different countries to attend and therefore it is necessary to unify the process of admission to international standards," he announced.
