Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend Z.Safarov / "We do not intend violate concrete obligations with the International Federation with respect to possible sounding of the Armenian anthem," said Azad Rahimov, the Azerbaijani Minister for Youth and Sports. He was commenting on the possibility of victory of one of the Armenian athletes at the World Senior Wrestling Championship in Baku.
There is an agreement with FILA, which necessitates raising flag and playing anthem of a winner-country at the awarding ceremony. It is a common practice. Some months ago an Armenian delegation visited Baku to deal with numerous aspects of their tour to Azerbaijan and afterwards 4-lateral agreement was signed among representatives of the Armenian Wrestling Federation, Azerbaijani Wrestling Federation, FILA and International Olympic Committee. So, we will fulfill the requirements set in the contract," Rahimov said.
