Zarbaliyeva / The condemned employee of Azerbaijan's Nota Bene newspaper, Faramaz Novruzoghlu (Allahverdiyev), will be sent back to Reformatory 14 from the medical unit, the head physician of the Azerbaijan Penitentiary Service, Rashad Damirov told Trend on 26 September.
According to him, Novruzoghlu's treatment is complete and his health is normal. Before the arrest, at the end of 2006, Novruzoghlu had an operation in his rectum. Consequently, he was repeatedly operated on afterwards.
In the medical unit, Novruzoghlu rejected an operation, for little time remained on his sentence which he was to serve.
Novruzoghlu was convicted on 30 January 2007 in accordance with Articles 147 (calumny) and 148 (insult) by decision of the Narimanov District Court by a lawsuit brought by Ramil Usubov, the Interior Minister, and Nazim Ibrahimov, the Chairman of the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Residing Abroad.
The Azerbaijan Appeals Court upheld the sentence.
