Candidates to be interviewed for Notary Positions in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 January /corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ The candidates who wish to obtain a certificate to become professional notaries will be interviewed on 16 January.

Twenty-two candidates who have successfully passed the test will participate in the interview, the Notary Office of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan said. The Notary Office of the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan has been holding the Admission of Documents since May 2007 from those who hope to become professional notaries. Some 500 people who submitted the documents passed the test and 22 of them were admitted to the second stage.

After the interview the candidates will be given 6 months practical experience in the Notary Office appointed by the Ministry of Justice, the Notary Office said. Once this has been completed the candidates will be interviewed to test their professional preparation for the post of notary.

The current notaries will also participate in the interview on the professional preparation for the notary post. The exact number of vacancies will be determined once the interview is over. A certain portion of the current notaries are not expected to pass the interview, said the Notary Office.

The successful candidates will be granted licenses to work as private notaries. The number of

private notaries will be limited within the initial stage due to the Private Notary Institute being innovative for Azerbaijan,.

Currently there are 149 notaries in Azerbaijan. Due to the reforms, the figure will go up to 158.

Several notaries have retired once they had turned 65 years old..

Anyone wishing to work as a public or private notary, must have top law qualifications and possess moral qualities and experience.
