Azerbaijani Diaspora to Mark 20 January Tragedy

Azerbaijan, Baku, 1 January / Trend corr. S.Ilhamgizi / The 18th anniversary of the 20 January tragedy of Azerbaijan will be marked in the different countries, the State Committee on Work with Azerbaijanis Reside Abroad reported to Trend on 1 January.

The memory ceremony dedicated to 20 January tragedy, implemented by the Azerbaijani embassy in Russia and Russian Congress of Azerbaijanis (RCA), will be held in the Baku theatre in Moscow.

A round table dedicated to the tragedy will be held in Yekaterinburg. The memory ceremony will also be held in Ulan-Ud. The Ukrainian Congress of Azerbaijanis (UCA) will implement the memory ceremony in Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk and Nikolayev regions on 19 January, as well as in Kiev on 20 January. The Congress of Belarus-Azerbaijani communities will hold the ceremony in Minsk on 19 January.

The Estonian-Azerbaijani Aydan Friendship community will hold an exhibition and demonstrate the film dedicated to the tragedy in Estonia on 20 January. The Lithuanian Azerbaijanis community and Gunash community in Vilnius will hold a meeting. A photo exhibition will be held by the Ojag (Fire) centre of culture in Riga.

The East Culture Institute named- Z.Aliyeva will hold the conference dedicated to the history of Heydar Aliyev in Tallinn, Estonia. The memory ceremony and demonstration of the film dedicated to the tragedy will be held by the Hungary-Azerbaijan Friendship Organization, in Hungary. The Azer-Czech community in Czechia and the Congress of Azerbaijanis of Moldova in Kishinev, will hold the round tables.

The State Committee reported that the Azerbaijani Diaspora will mark the 18th anniversary of 20 January tragedy in the United States, Turkey, Middle Asia, Norway, Sweden, Germany, France, Great Britain and Belgium.
