Shortage of Information Technology Teachers in Baku Schools

Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 February / Trend corr. J.Babayeva / There is shortage of information technology teachers in 120 schools in Baku, Bahman Nabiyev, the director of Planning Sector and Staff Management of the Education Department, stated to journalists.

In 2008, a new program on information-communication technologies will be started in all Baku schools. This program will include having the schools connected to the internet.

An evaluation performed by the Department revealed that there are 33,491 teachers (88.8% are women and 11.2% - men) as of 1 January 2008.

According to Nabiyev, 23% of the directors in Baku schools are of retirement age (45 women and 25 man).

There are 691 educational institutions and 326 educational schools in Baku.
