Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 March / Trend corr. K.Zarbaliyeva / Chingiz Ganizade, the human right activist, stated during the meeting with Nazim Alakparov- the Deputy Justice Minister of Azerbaijan and Chief of Penal Service, that the obstacles are created in the Prosecutor departments for pre-term release of the prisoners- who have served half of their sentence.

Sahib Mammadov, Coordinator of Public Committee, informed Trend that Ganizade focused special attention on prisoners who have served half of their sentence and appealed for them to the local District Courts. However, the courts refused from pre-term release of prisoners. Ganizadeh said that Prosecutor departments did not give permission for the pre-term release of prisoners.

The Committee members paid attention on problems connected with pensions of the prisoners.

Mammadov said that there are some prisoners who do not have passports and thus they cannot receive their pensions. The issue concerning pensions will be reflected in the appeal to Social Protection Fund at Internal Ministry.

The Human rights activist, Eldar Zeynalov, expressed his dissatisfaction that there are cases where the appeals submitted to the Gobustan Prison have not been registered and investigated as yet. Therefore, Committee members decided to hold monitoring in Gobustan prison. The results of monitoring held by Public Committee were discussed during the meeting.
