Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 March / Trend corr K. Ramazanova/ Azerbaijan's contribution to dance art should be estimated at its true worth by the international community, the U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Anne Derse said at a performance of the American Battery Dance group in Baku.
"As you know, Azerbaijan made great contributions to the world's choreography, including the Muslim world. Azerbaijan was the first in the Muslim East to perform ballet, at the Maiden Tower, in 1940," she said.
According to Derse, the performance by the Battery Dance may attract more attention to ballet, which is a key part of Azerbaijan's cultural life.
The Ambassador thanked the country's Ministry of Culture and Tourism for support in the organization of the dance group's concert.
