Azerbaijan, Baku, 9 May / Trend / "The status of the Azerbaijanis residing in Russia has dramatically improved in recent years," Araz Agalarov Vice-President of All-Russian Azerbaijanis Congress, said.
"Situation in Russia has become favourable in recent years for Azerbaijanis residing in the country. Azerbaijani diaspora played an important role for that," Agalarov said in Baku at the Congress representatives' meeting on 9 May dedicated to the 85th anniversary of Azerbaijani ex-President Heydar Aliyev.
"It is All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress which sharply changes Russians' attitude towards Azerbaijanis. Azerbaijani diaspora in Russia and worldwide has been intensively developing in recent years. The stereotype about Azerbaijan, which was created during a long period, is changing," he said.
"In future, Russian authorities' attitude towards Azerbaijanis will also improve," Vice-President said.
"The Congress is a sort of area for dialogue between Azerbaijanis and Russian authorities," Agalarov said.
