Memory of Azerbaijanis, Killed by Nazis, Commemorated in Austria

Austria, Vienna, 19 May / Trend corr. A.Alaskarov / The memory of 75 Azerbaijanis killed by Fascists was commemorated in Austria, in the territory of former Nazi concentration camp 'Mauthausen' where the Fascists had executed and tortured about 122,000 people.

The delegations from 50 different countries took part in the ceremony. The Azerbaijani delegation headed by Fuad Ismayil, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Austria, and Kamil Guliyev, military attache, visited Austria to commemorate the memory of killed people. Three wreaths were placed on different monuments of the memorandum complex Mauthausen. Later the delegations from many other countries went to Apelplatz square under the funeral music. Alfred Gussenbauer, Austrian Prime Minister, also took part in the ceremony. About 335,000 people were held as the prisoners in Mauthausen, and over 122,000 people were killed. A museum was constructed in place of the Mauthausen (Nazi concentration camp) after the IInd World War.
