Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 June /corr. Trend K.Zarbaliyeva / On 17 June, the participants of an unofficial demonstration of Musavat Party, scheduled to take place in front of Baku City Executive Power building, were released.

Four participants of the demonstration had been detained and brought to station No 9 of Sabail Police Department, a source at the station told to Trend on 17 June. They were released after a warning was given to them.

On 17 June, Musavat Party tried to hold a demonstration in front of Baku City Executive Power building.

Police stopped the participants of the demonstration in front of Icheri Sheher metro station (former Baku soviet station), not allowing them to gather in front of Baku City Executive Power building. Police detained several participants of the demonstration, including an employee of Yeni Musavat newspaper, Afgan Muradkhanli.

However, several activists did manage to enter the Executive Power building, but the police detained them soon.

The participants of the party were able to disseminate the resolution of the demonstration, in which they called on the government to ensure freedom of assembly specified in article 49 of the Country's Constitution.

Musavat Party had earlier repeatedly appealed the Baku City Executive Power with a request to allot a place for them to hold their demonstration. The Executive Power suggested holding demonstration in Bibi Heybat settlement. However, party refused the place and presented a lawsuit against the Executive Power.
